The Recruiting Game has changed a bit and it will change again before the year is over.
Here are some of the Biggest changes we’ve noticed over the last couple years 👇👇👇👇
💥The Transfer Portal Runs the Show — Coaches are building rosters through the portal first, then plugging gaps with freshmen. High school recruiting is now Plan B for many programs, especially at the D1 level.
💥High School Players Must Be More Ready — Raw potential isn’t enough. Coaches want freshman who are physically and mentally prepared to contribute. If you’re not close to college-ready, you’re likely getting passed over or pushed to prep/juco.
💥JUCO & Post-Grad Pathways Are Growing — More players are taking the long road: prep schools, gap years, or JUCOs—giving them extra time to mature, develop, and prove themselves. Coaches are tracking these routes closely.
💥D2, NAIA, and D3 Are Booming with Talent — With fewer freshman spots at D1, more high-major talent is landing at lower levels. These programs are now loaded with under-recruited, high-quality players who want to prove they belong.
💥Relationships Still Win — Despite all the changes, one thing hasn’t changed: relationships matter. Coaches want players they trust. Players need advocates. The right calls and connections still open doors.
